The Mille Miglia 2024: A journey into the history and the beauty of Italy

The Mille Miglia, the world's most famous car race, roars back for its 42nd reenactment from June 11 to June 15, 2024.

The start, as tradition dictates, will be in Brescia, the city that gave birth to the race in 1927. From here, over 400 vintage cars will head south, traversing seven Italian regions: Lombardy, Piedmont, Liguria, Tuscany, Lazio, Umbria, and Emilia-Romagna.

The route, which unfolds counterclockwise, is designed to celebrate the beauty and history of Italy. The cars will traverse breathtaking landscapes, such as the Piedmontese Langhe, the Ligurian coast, the Tuscan countryside, the Eternal City, and the gentle hills of Umbria.

This year, the Mille Miglia will also make a special stop in Genoa, the European Capital of Sport 2024. Participants will have the opportunity to admire the port and engage with the audience as they parade along the waterfront.

The event's concept is a regularity race, rewarding the skill of drivers and navigators in adhering to travel times and speed limits. Cars are classified based on their score, determined by various factors, including travel time, regularity, and class membership. This has been the case since 1977, as before then, it was effectively a straight-line speed race.
