Google's intelligent traffic lights reduce pollution

[Translate to English:]

Would they resolve various situations in Italy?

Cities around the world face a crucial challenge in their fight to reduce carbon dioxide emissions: traffic. In particular, road intersections represent a critical point, where pollution can exceed the average of other roads by 29 times, according to data provided by Google.

Furthermore, the time wasted waiting for the green light is a source of daily frustration for many drivers.
To address this challenge, Google has worked with numerous cities around the world to develop "smart" traffic lights that optimize traffic flow, thereby reducing congestion and air pollution.

Goal: "Green Wave"
The project, known as "Green Light," has been launched in 12 cities, including Seattle, Manchester and Hamburg, and involves as many as 70 street intersections. Google engineers analyzed data on traffic and traffic light sequence (i.e. the time the traffic light remains red or green) to develop an algorithm capable of maximizing waiting times.

But the goal is not just to optimize traffic at individual intersections, but to create a "green wave" that allows cars to flow more efficiently from one traffic light to another. Early data indicates notable success, with a 30% reduction in stops at traffic lights and a 10% decrease in emissions, according to Google.

Italy would appear to be one of the countries where this technology will be tested in the coming months. Could it actually make its contribution to more sustainable mobility?

Two New Tools for Maximum Efficiency
Google is pursuing maximum efficiency not only through "smart" traffic lights but also with two new tools that are available in some countries. These tools are based on data provided by the International Energy Agency and allow you to make more informed decisions regarding energy consumption.

The first tool allows you to calculate the maintenance costs of electric vehicles based on annual energy consumption. This tool is automatically activated when you search on Google for electric or combustion vehicles and is currently available in Australia, Canada, Spain, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

The second tool allows comparison between home air conditioning systems, such as heat pumps and air conditioners. This tool also activates automatically during searches on this topic on Google and is currently available in France and the United States, with plans to expand to Italy and other European countries in the coming months.

Waiting for the smart traffic lights, we are also in Milan and Rome, two very chaotic cities with traffic problems. One of the ways you can reduce emissions, in addition to reducing time at traffic lights, is certainly to rent an electric car, and to rent a top of the range car from us to have not only a vehicle to go from point A to point B, but having a driving experience never seen before.
