From Castles to the Future: The First Lego-Made Car Unveiled

[Translate to English:]

The electric car is currently the most significant innovation we can tangibly experience in the transition from fossil fuels that the world is trying to implement to keep up with the Agenda 2030 roadmap.

To make the concept of an electric car less abstract and more consumer-friendly, numerous initiatives aim to present new EVs from a perspective beyond being a simple alternative to traditional fuels. They strive to depict electric cars as tools for environmental and urban sustainability, making them less 'alien' to consumers.

In addition to the pop-car we discussed some time ago, various initiatives related to EVs have emerged, including a model presented in Milan at the Babila Building Space—an entire model made entirely of LEGO.

The car is 1:1 scale (4,695 x 1,890 x 1,550 mm) and is the first full electric vehicle composed of the famous Danish toy bricks. Riccardo Zangelmi, the only Italian LEGO Certified Professional, collaborated on the project. Along with five other members of Brickvision, they worked for over four months (approximately 800 working hours) to build the brick model.

It required 350,000 LEGO bricks, in addition to a heavy iron structure weighing 400 kg. Functioning just like a regular car, the pieces were glued together to ensure safety and stability. The car is part of the Brick to the Future initiative, which uses LEGO as a pretext to raise awareness about environmental issues. It suggests that the future must be built one brick at a time to preserve the well-being of future generations on our planet.
