Edilfar Rent brings back the spirit of horses with the arrival of the new CLA and its "shooting brake" model.

In 2023, the practicality of a car often combines with its aesthetic beauty, and Edilfar Rent thinks about this "marriage" by offering the CLA Shooting Brake. Besides its curious design, what certainly catches attention is its name.

What does it mean?

The origin of the term refers to the Anglo-Saxon practice of attaching a cart or carriage to the most spirited horses to break (or "brake") their spirit, making them more docile through the weight of these brake-type carriages, which were heavy and enormous. The term "shooting" could be associated with the needs of a niche of people such as hunters, who, since the late 1800s, required compact carriages capable of navigating narrow roads while being quite spacious to transport weapons, traps, ammunition, provisions, and more, for real hunting campaigns.

It has been adopted for the modification of luxury cars in modern times by hunters, golfers, or polo players, who demanded a better rear access threshold from their vehicles than what traditional cars offered. So, we can say that the term indicates a type of automotive body that features a very sporty line, with 2 or 4 doors (from a coupe to a sedan), combined with family-like characteristics, such as the large volume of the tail and the vertical rear hatch, an untamed spirit "softened" by some more practical and comfortable components.

This could be the way to describe the new Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake: don't dare to call it a station wagon, as it wouldn't capture its "out-of-the-box" design! While it draws inspiration from station wagons from a few decades ago, especially the interior is derived from the A-Class; in short, an elegant line, aggressive front, and small frameless windows. The rear is low and rounded, emphasizing a sporty character.

Despite its sporty soul, the "carriage" attached to this horse makes it a fuel-efficient car. Considering it's a 2.0 with 190 HP, the fuel consumption is low, approximately 15.2 km/l in city driving, while outside the city, it proves to be a pleasant car to drive, settling at a consumption of 21.2 km/l on the highway. The firm suspensions make the driving experience comfortable and "muffled."

The car comes with different engine options depending on the model, including two diesel 4MATIC versions: the 180D and the 200D, as well as the 250E 4MATIC plug-in hybrid.
